Thinking about trying a low carb diet?
Already tried low carb?
The truth is that Atkins is not a diet. On most diets you'll
be hungry a fair percentage of the time. On Adkins, you'll develop control of
your hunger and cravings.
The Atkins diet plan, created by Dr. Robert Atkins, is a high-protein,
low-carbohydrate Diet plan that calls for no refined sugars or flour, very low
carbohydrates, and as much
meat and fat as you want.
The Atkins diet encourages
people to cut down on carbohydrates and eat dairy products, meat and fish.

Think Healthy!
Be Healthy!
Many people have found the Adkins diet to be a successful and healthy diet plan,
drawn up by Dr Robert Atkins 30 years ago, the diet has gained converts in
recent years among film stars and models.
The brain is a hungry organ that cannot function at optimal levels without the
proper fuels.
Studies also show that lower levels of essential fatty acids can result in
problems with learning, behavior, temper, sleep, and immune function.

Your brain is about 60 percent fat, with Omega-3 essential fatty acids the most
abundant fat in your brain. This essential fatty is extremely important for
communication and transmission between brain cells.
Because the body does not make essential fatty acids, they are only available
through our diets or through supplementation.
The best source of Omega-3 fatty acids is cold water fish like salmon, herring,
tuna, cod, flounder, trout and shrimp. Other sources of essential fatty acids
(Omega-3 and Omega-6) are nuts, soybean, walnut oil, olive oil and flaxseed oil.
AMINO ACIDS: Amino acids, the building blocks of protein in the body, literally
feed the brain. Amino acids promote the production of various neurotransmitters
and enzymes critically needed in the brain for communication between brain
cells, smooth and balanced cognition and fluid transition from thought to
disciplined action.
Foods high in complete protein are excellent sources of amino acids. Good
sources of complete proteins include meat, fish, eggs, dairy products and soy.
Yogurt is the only animal-derived complete protein that dieticians recommend for
frequent use in the diet.
For vegetarians, brown rice served with beans, seeds, nuts or wheat make a
complete protein. All soy products also make a complete protein.
You should be eating a diet high in fiber, low in saturated fat, and low in
refined sugars (preferably removing them completely!). Sweeten your drinks and
foods with honey or stevia instead. Eat foods every day that are high in vitamin
C, vitamin E, zinc, and selenium. These nutrients protect the liver, heart,
brain, and other organs from free radical damage. Limit your caffeine intake, or
stop using it altogether (caffeine can cause breast tenderness and pain). Limit
red meats (have you seen the crap that goes into cattle feed?!), and add fresh
fish to your diet at least twice per week. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and
vegetables, particularly dark leafy greens, whole grains, and legumes. Pay
attention to getting enough calcium in your diet to promote healthy bones and
teeth, by eating natural organic yogurt, drinking natural organic milk, eating
natural (not processed!) organic cheeses, eating enough dark leafy greens
(spinach is an excellent source of calcium!). For those of you who are
lactose-intolerant, you owe it to yourself to give whole organic goat milk a
try. Many people who are diagnosed as lactose-intolertant find they have no
problems when drinking/using whole goat milk. This is because most goat farmers
don't feed their goats the additives most cattle feed has, and the composition
is different than cow milk.
This was a famous diet in the 1970s that was
developed by Herman Tarnower. Its secret is to divide carbohydrates,
proteins, and fats into certain percentages. The diet lasts for 14
days and does allows fruit substitutes for certain foods. The
Scarsdale Diet is 43% protein, 22.5% fat, and 34.5% carbohydrates.
What’s on the Scarsdale Diet Menu?
Breakfast is generally the same every day. You have half a grapefruit,
a slice of protein bread, and coffee or tea. Many of the lunches insist that you
have assorted cold cuts, but you are restricted to certain meats. Dinner often
involves animal protein or seafood.
Weighing in on the Scarsdale Diet
The Scarsdale Diet claims to lead to quick and efficient weight loss.
It is also simple to follow as it has a meal plan mapped out. The lack of
calories is why most people lose weight on this diet. Therefore, it isn't
exactly a healthy route to weight loss. Also, since it's so high in protein, it
can be very easy to consume an unhealthy amount of fat.
Lemonade Diet / Cayenne Pepper Diet
For fast weight loss one of the most effective ways to lose a quick 10
or 15 pounds is to go on the lemonade diet also called the cayenne diet
or mastercleanse.
It’s basically a juice diet were you drink this special lemonade
drink for up to 10 days. This is also a great way to detox your body,
and people who have gone on this diet have seen not only weight loss but
many other health benefits.
Brazilian Diet
There’s some buzz going around about the Brazilian Diet, and
with summer here a lot of people are trying to shed a few extra
pounds.
But you should know that the Brazilian Diet might not be
safe.
There’s a FDA warning about the new diet. Here’s what they
had to say:
According to the FDA, the drugs contain active
ingredients found in a sedative, antidepressant, and
unapproved stimulant, and could cause serious health
problems.
“Consumers are advised not to use the Emagrece Sim and
Herbathin products and to return them to the suppliers,”
states the FDA, which is stepping up its efforts to prevent
the drugs’ U.S. importation.
I promise you'll find here some of the most powerful
information available anywhere about hypoglycemia and diet
... about what to eat if you have hypoglycemia. The straight
facts. Common sense. The results of 25 years study, trial
and error and prayer as I've tried to figure out the truth
about hypoglycemia and diet.
It can be so confusing when you read all the different
theories about the best diet for hypoglycemia. High protein
diets. Low carb diets. Low fat diets. Eat only protein and
vegetables. Food combining. Eat six small meals a day. Look
at the glycemic index (GI) of everything you eat. It's a
nightmare when you first start out. So many theories, it
makes your head spin.
Thankfully, I've been through all that and come out the
other side. The truth is always simple. That's the way God
has made things. So that simple people can understand.
Scientists and the medical profession like to make things
complicated. So they can seem like experts ... and we'll pay
them big money for their advice and theories.
Consider this. People have been eating natural diets for
thousands of years ... natural food the way God made it ...
and have enjoyed good health on a wide variety of natural
foods. Different ethnic diets have developed. These have
kept people very healthy. Long before there were any
scientists to come up with crazy theories about diet.
So, you don't need to get too hung up about way out diet
theories. But what you do need to consider is that much of
our modern food today is highly processed and not good for
us. This particularly applies to the amounts of sugar and
refined carbohydrates in just about everything. These are
the things we need to avoid.
In future entires I'll be looking at some specific ways you
can eat to restore your health completely if you have
hypoglycemia. But for now I'd like to refer you to a couple
of my favourite websites on health - and specifically about
diet.
The first is Newstarget Network
www.newstarget.com . This is an awesome site founded by
Mike Atkins. Mike is one of the wiseset people around on
natual health issues. Get acquainted with the site and
browse around it. You'll find a wealth of priceless health
information that will change your life ... if you put into
practice what you read. And sign up for Mike's newsletter
too.
The other site (actually a blog) that I recommend you get
acquainted with is Connie Bennett's
Sugar Shock. This blog is absolutely packed full of
great information about hypoglycemia and the health effects
of sugar and sweets in general.
I hope after you've browsed around these two recommended
sites (and signed up for both their newsletters) you'll come
back and check out this blog regularly for updates.
I promise you'll get the straight facts about what has
worked for me and restored my health from the nightmare of
hypoglycemia. And I don't have to live on an impossible diet
like some so-called experts tell you. You'll be pleasantly
surprised to learn that having hypoglycemia is not a life
sentence to a boring high protein, low carb diet.
